Welcome to the Rattlesnake's Den. I'm new here, so please be a little patient while I figure out how all this works.
For a conversation starter, I'd like to give a little background into who I am. I am a thirty-something, American male of English and Scottish ancestry working in the educational field. I was born and raised in Chicago, IL but currently live downstate. I was born into a Protestant (Episcopalian) family, but I attended Catholic schools from Kindergarten throughout high school [if you knew the state of Chicago Public Schools, you'd understand why my parents made that decision]. Today I'd consider mysef atheist, but I recognizeI attended a state university thanks to a scholarship and part-time jobs, and finished with two bachelor's degrees, one in linguistics and the other in history.
I am the father of a four year old daughter and an eighteen month son. My wife and I have been married for six years and have been a match made in heaven for twelve, when we met in our history of western civilization class.
In terms of my politics, most people would label me a staunch conservative. But I respectfully disagree with them. I always considered myself more a nationalist, although that word has acquired a negative connotation over the years, due to it's overly liberal usage. In future writings, I hope to present my beliefs, my complaints, and a grabbag of other thoughts, musings, and the like. Thank you.
